What changing lines show, and what this reading does with them
A three-coin cast can produce stable lines and moving lines. Moving lines are often called changing lines because their polarity changes when forming the related hexagram.
Short answer
Changing lines mark movement inside the cast and help form a changed hexagram. Line & Choice displays them, but the current simplified product does not use them to change its primary directional judgment.
Stable and moving lines
Every cast records one yin or yang line. Some combinations are stable; others are marked as moving. If each moving yin line is changed to yang, and each moving yang line is changed to yin, the six positions form a second, related hexagram.
That structure is part of the visible cast. It should not be hidden merely because a simplified reading uses a narrower judgment rule.
The current Line & Choice boundary
The product uses a bounded adaptation of a traditional six-line rule to produce the primary directional result for supported question types. Moving lines remain visible in the chart, but they do not alter that primary direction in the current version.
This means the product should not be described as a complete professional Six-Line or Wen Wang Gua reading. The boundary is shown before payment so a visitor can decide whether the method fits what they want.
Why the boundary matters
Different I Ching traditions and practitioners weigh moving lines, line texts, related hexagrams, timing, and other relationships in different ways. Folding all of those approaches into one short result would hide interpretive choices behind an appearance of certainty.
Line & Choice keeps a smaller promise: show the cast, apply the stated fixed rule, label what the rule does not cover, and reserve AI for explanation after the result is locked.
Continue from the method, not from a preferred answer
Read the three-coin method to see how the six positions are recorded, or review the public product boundary. Do not recast only because you dislike the first direction. A new cast is a new reading, not a correction of the old one.
The method boundary remains inspectable
The formed lines, changed structure, active fixed rule, relevant Zengshan Buyi passage, and fixed translation remain separate from the AI-written explanation.
